Dr. Erickson grew up in Lamont, Alberta, a small rural farming community where her family has lived for over a century. She attended King's University in Edmonton where she co-authored a published paper regarding cataracts in zebrafish. She continued her studies at Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry where she obtained her Doctorate of Optometry.
She lived in Puerto Rico for 4 years where she learned to surf as well as speak Spanish. She is able to perform a comprehensive exam in Spanish.
Dr. Erickson performed her clinical rotations in ocular disease, pediatrics & vision therapy, contact lenses, and primary care. She was awarded Clinical Excellence 2 years in a row and Best Thesis Dissertation. Outside of her clinics Dr. Erickson has also volunteered on an eyecare mission in the Dominican Republic where she helped provide free eyeglasses to those in need.
Outside of optometry, Dr. Erickson enjoys playing volleyball, baseball, and camping. She also loves outdoor winter activities like snowmobiling and ice fishing. She spends her family time on her acreage with her husand and son.
