Glaucoma Testing

Our doctors and staff are equipped and trained with the latest technologies to detect early signs of Glaucoma. During your comprehensive eye exam, our Optometrists will assess any risk factors that will indicate if further testing is necessary.

Glaucoma testing will include a dilated eye exam where we perform additional testing including visual field testing, optic nerve imaging via optical coherence tomography (OCT), checking intraocular pressures, and measuring corneal thickness.

What is Glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a collection of eye diseases that can lead to vision loss and blindness by damaging the optic nerve at the back of the eye.

Symptoms often develop gradually, making them easy to overlook. The only way to detect glaucoma is through a comprehensive dilated eye exam.

While there is no cure for glaucoma, early treatment can often halt the damage and preserve your vision.

Glaucoma-induced optic nerve damage often stems from elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). Several risk factors can increase the likelihood of developing glaucoma, including:

  • Age
  • Family history
  • Past eye injuries
